ABOUT US
ABOUT US
OUR MISSION
Live out the transforming love of Jesus in our community as we help people find hope, live hope and give hope.
OUR PASSION
We want people to see God for who He is and find their place in a Christ centered community.
OUR GOAL
Build a church community that will serve and love our city the way Jesus would.
OUR NAME
We named the church "The Hope Community" to draw attention to what we believe the church will be, a community of believers from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and political preference centered on the hope of Jesus that transcends the categories we place ourselves in.
We exist to introduce everyone. to the surprising hope of Jesus as we build bridges and celebrate diversity.

OUR PASTORS
CALEB AND MICHELLE CRENSHAW
Caleb and Michelle lead The Hope Community. Married in 2011, they have two children, Hadessah (the princess) and Josiah (the adorable monster). As God brought them together from two completely different backgrounds, they knew He had something unique for them to accomplish. Over the last decade, they have served as youth pastors at churches of varying sizes cultures, and models; giving them a wealth of experiences to draw from as Christian leaders. Their passion for God and for people, as well as their individual giftings, have served as catalysts for leading people to Jesus and raising up leaders. Michelle is a natural creative with years of experience working in the hospitality industry and in ministry. She has an associate degree in Christian Ministries and runs a local floral business. Caleb has a BA in Theological studies from the King’s University and is ordained with the Assemblies of God. After spending a year in as church planters in residence at National Community Church in Washington D.C. under the leadership of Dr. Mark Batterson, they moved to Sacramento, CA to plant a new church, The Hope Community, in the Oak Park Neighborhood. As a family, they have a deep passion to see the communities of Sacramento transformed with the hope of Jesus.
OUR VALUES
We believe the Bible is the infallible words of God, that all scripture is inspirited by God and relevant to our lives today. (2 Timothy 3:16)
Life change happens in the context of intentional authentic relationships. We need each other as we grow with God.
The greatest impact of the church happens Monday through Saturday when people live out the love of Jesus in their workplace, schools, and neighborhood. Beyond this, we have the responsibility to serve in and fund initiatives with regional and global impact. (Acts 1:8)
We honor God when we take faith steps and pray for the impossible. Everyone's "big leap" is different, but each one is important. (Luke 1:37)
We look for opportunities to give, even sacrificially, while knowing God will not be outdone in generosity towards us. The hand open to give, is open to receive. (Luke 6:38)
When everyone brings their unique differences to the table, the whole community benefits. There is creativity diversity. We believe church should be the most diverse gathering in the city. (1 Corinthians 12:12)
An ever-changing world needs an agile and creative church. The message stays the same but the methods for delivery keep changing. We love fresh expressions, innovation, and failing forward. (Exodus 35:35)
What we don't pass on, dies with us. We must pass on our passion, knowledge, and skills to the next man up and to the next generation. This is done through modeling, teaching, and releasing people to use their gifts. (2 Timothy 2:2)
The Church exists to introduce finite people to an infinitely powerful God. Everything changing in our lives and community when God shows up. (Acts 2)
Church isn't just to talk about God, but celebrating what He is doing and what He has done. Serving God isn't boring or somber. Instead, it's marked by joy.
